Justin Lewis was raised in Seminole Oklahoma where he began learning to play trombone in sixth grade. During high school, Justin received several prestigious music honors. The highest honor was being a two time member of the Oklahoma All-State band. He attended East Central University on full scholarship in Ada, Oklahoma where he received his Bachelor's of Music Education in 1992. After graduation Justin attended the University of North Texas receiving a Masters of Music in trombone performance with a musicology emphasis in 1994.
Following graduation, Justin began his teaching career in Madill Oklahoma. While at Madill the band earned many honors including a proclamation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives. It was while teaching in Madill that Justin joined the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra as bass trombone.
In 1997 Justin relocated to Wichita Falls as the band director at Zundy Junior High. He became the director of Wichita Falls High School in 2007, a position that he holds currently. In 2012 Justin was named as the Texas representative in School Band and Orchestra magazine as one of the top 50 teachers who made a difference and was inducted in to the Seminole High School Hall of Fame.
Aside from teaching, Justin actively performs in the community. As well as being the bass trombone in the symphony for the last seventeen years, he is lead trombone in the Ken Nelson Big Band and is one of the founding members of Ukelicious, an eclectic tongue-in-cheek ukulele duet.
Justin is married to his lovely wife of 20 years, Jennifer and has one son, Miles. During his spare time he enjoys jogging, camping and spending time with his family.
